iCU2 Summer Almost Over
We are on the back side of August. Where did the summer go? I have heard some cool stories about vacations all over the world. Myself, I have been stuck in Texas. But hey, what a place to get stuck in.
I have been online the majority of everyday this summer. My lack of tan shows it. Being online in the car, in the house, on the porch, at the store, any place is great. Carrying a cam in every vehicle to make sure I can get to the program if need be. My wife’s car has a dent in the headliner where i shove a camera between the sun visor and the roof. Mobil broadband has made it so easy to stay connected no matter where you are. I can say on iCU2 everywhere I go. (The last 2 weeks it has been Mafia Wars on Facebook but I’m online.)
Was a rough summer for my netbooks. You know those little laptops you see on every other commercial on TV. I killed 3 of them. I lost one machine to a set of keys that cracked the screen. That was a new EEE PC. A beer(not mine) drowned one machine a used Sony Netbook. A fall off a counter killed another a used HP model.
That’s ok I found a Panasonic Toughbook to replace the netbooks. You can run over it with a car so maybe I’ll be ok. Click this Toughbook video link and see how they get their name. I acquired one from a long time iCU2 user. Truly industrial strenght computing. I have not seen anything this tough since I left the oilfields. Being in a car or changing environment you need to take extra care of your laptops and netbooks. Or get a machine that will take more abuse. Get ready to spend a little more money for a rugged laptop. You can shop around like I did and save a lot of cash and get a machine you can depend on. Who would think iCU2 would be a full contact sport?
Still where did the summer go? Time has flown by in my video chat world.
For you Mac addicts you will be happy to know work is underway on a real Mac version for iCU2. I have finally found developers I am comfortable with and am proceeding with the project. I know you have heard me over and over say a Mac version is coming, well it finally is. Along with that you will see more social network integration into iCU2 from the program interface to the site itself. Lots of cool stuff is in the pipe.
OK well I’m going to go out and make the best of what is left of this summer before all the gulf storms get rolling.
If you have any vacation or online stories to share please do. Can you leave us a note and tell us what your summer highlights were?
Stay well and out of the heat
